Chat integration

Uptimera + Slack

Connect Uptimera to Slack to receive incident, recovery, and maintenance alerts directly in the channels your team already lives in. Route different monitors to different channels — page on-call for production, ping #dev-noise for staging, leave #exec out of it.

Availability: Available on all plans, including Free. Channel routing rules require Pro or Business.

Setup

  1. 1

Add the Slack alert channel in Uptimera

In your Uptimera dashboard, open Settings → Alert Channels and click "Add Slack". You'll be prompted to authorize the Uptimera app to your Slack workspace.

  2. 2

    Pick the default channel

Choose the Slack channel where alerts land by default. We recommend a dedicated #alerts or #uptime channel rather than a general team channel — alert fatigue is real.

  3. 3

    Route monitors to channels

On each monitor, override the default channel if needed. Production monitors → #incidents, staging → #dev-noise, marketing site → #marketing-alerts. Routing rules update instantly.

  4. 4

    Test the integration

Use the "Send test alert" button to confirm the message lands in the right channel before relying on it for production.

What teams do with this

On-call paging without paying for PagerDuty

For small teams, a dedicated Slack channel with notifications enabled is often a perfectly good on-call surface — especially with Slack's mobile push.

Customer-facing status echo

Mirror your public status page updates into a customer-facing Slack channel (Slack Connect) so VIP customers get notified as you post incident updates.

Postmortem timeline source

Slack messages are timestamped — when you write up the postmortem, the alert messages and your team's responses become a free, accurate incident timeline.

Common questions

Do I need a paid Slack plan?

No — the Uptimera Slack integration works on Slack's free plan. Note that Slack's free plan limits message history; if you rely on Slack messages as your incident timeline, consider a paid Slack plan or export.

Can I @-mention people in alerts?

Yes. Each Slack-routed monitor can be configured to @-mention a user or @here/@channel on incident open. We disable @-mentions on recovery messages by default to reduce noise.

What if Slack itself is down?

Uptimera retries failed Slack deliveries for up to 30 minutes. We also recommend configuring a secondary alert channel (email or SMS) on critical monitors as a fallback.
