Uptimera + Slack

Connect Uptimera to Slack to receive incident and recovery alerts directly in the channels your team already lives in. Attach different alert channels to different monitors — page on-call for production, ping #dev-noise for staging, leave #exec out of it.

Availability: Available on the Pro and Business plans. The Free plan sends alerts by email only.

Setup

  1. 1

    Create a Slack incoming webhook

In Slack, add the "Incoming Webhooks" app (or use an existing Slack app), enable webhooks, and create one for the channel where alerts should land. Copy the webhook URL — it looks like https://hooks.slack.com/services/….

  2. 2

Add the Slack channel in Uptimera

In your Uptimera dashboard, open Alerts → Add Channel and choose Slack. Give it a name and paste the webhook URL. We recommend a dedicated #alerts or #uptime channel rather than a general team channel — alert fatigue is real.

  3. 3

    Attach it to your monitors

On each monitor, add the alert channels that should fire when it goes down. Point production monitors at your incidents webhook and staging at a noisier channel — a monitor only notifies the channels you attach to it.

  4. 4

    Send a test alert

Use the "Test" button on the channel card to confirm the message lands in the right Slack channel before relying on it for production.

What teams do with this

On-call paging without paying for PagerDuty

For small teams, a dedicated Slack channel with notifications enabled is often a perfectly good on-call surface — especially with Slack's mobile push.

Customer-facing status echo

Mirror incident alerts into a customer-facing Slack channel (Slack Connect) so VIP customers get notified when a monitor you share with them goes down.

Postmortem timeline source

Slack messages are timestamped — when you write up the postmortem, the alert messages and your team's responses become a free, accurate incident timeline.

Common questions

Do I need a paid Slack plan?

No — the Uptimera Slack integration uses a standard incoming webhook, which works on Slack's free plan. Note that Slack's free plan limits message history; if you rely on Slack messages as your incident timeline, consider a paid Slack plan or export.

Can I @-mention people in alerts?

Uptimera posts to the channel via its incoming webhook; per-alert @-mention targeting isn't configurable inside Uptimera today. To get someone's attention, route critical monitors to a dedicated channel with channel notifications turned on, or add an SMS channel for true paging.

What if Slack itself is down?

Slack delivery is a single best-effort POST — a failed send is recorded but not automatically retried. For critical monitors, configure a secondary channel (email or SMS) as a fallback so an alert still reaches you if Slack is unavailable.
